We have been scanning the listings looking for love and we’ve found it. So, as Valentine’s Day approaches, use our fun “Romance Ratings” system to find the best show for your next date.

The Bodyguard
Romantic plot-line: Music Diva is used to getting what she wants but when she falls for her personal bodyguard she comes to realize that the answer is not always found in a power ballad
Our Verdict : a dramatic musical moved along by the greatest hits of Whitney Houston. Heather Headley gives an outstanding performance in this romantic thriller.
Romance Rating :  ♥♥♥♥♥

Singin’ in the Rain
Romantic plot-line : Small time chorus girl meets successful silent movie star and they dance their way to love.
Our Verdict : If you loved the MGM musical starring Gene Kelly you will love this feel good show. Perfect for an old fashioned romantic!
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥♥

Top Hat
Romantic plot-line : Successful singer, Jerry Travers, meets his match in wise-cracking society girl Dale Tremont… or will ‘loathe’ turn to ‘love’.
Our Verdict : Outstanding choreography and set design take you back to the golden era of Astaire & Rogers: the perfect, silver screen couple.
Romance Rating: ♥♥♥♥

Rock of Ages
Romantic plot-line : Small town boy meets small town girl on LA’s notorious Sunset Strip in the late 80s where big hair, big rock ballads and big guitar solos are all the rage.
Our Verdict : If you met the love of your life at a Journey concert or still have Foreigner’s “I’ve Been Waiting…” pegged as your perfect “first dance”, then this is definitely your idea of a romantic night out!
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥

The Phantom of the Opera
Romantic plot-line : Young opera singer must choose between young rich Viscount and mask-wearing, dungeon-dwelling obsessive. Believe me, for her it’s a hard choice to make!
Our Verdict : The ultimate love story if (like us) you believe that love never dies
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥♥

Mamma Mia!
Romantic plot-line : It’s all about planning a beautiful wedding set on a Greek island, but will the couple actually say “I do, I do, I do”? The sun always shines on this Abba-tastic musical.
Our Verdict : You will both feel like you’ve had a much needed injection of Vitamin D during this vibrant, feel good show.
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥

Les Miserables
Romantic plot-line : It’s love at first sight between Marius and Cosette, but he is unaware of the passion poor Eponine has for him which leads to tragic heart-break.
Our Verdict : The tangled love triangle will leave you with tears in your eyes but the rousing musical score will leave your heart full of love.
Romance Rating:  ♥♥♥♥♥

Shrek The Musical
Romantic plot-line : Angry green ogre falls for beautiful princess who is hiding a huge secret from everyone. Romantic sub-plot of love-sick fire-breathing dragon falling for wise-cracking donkey. Warning: don’t risk it if your date is touchy about their green complexion and sticky out ears.
Our Verdict : Lots of fun from the characters in fairy book land. This feel-good musical will leave you with a BIG smile on your face.
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥

We Will Rock You
Romantic plot-line : Two strangers are thrown together on a quest to find the mighty axe of a great and hairy guitar god. Can they break free and become the champions of the Rhapsody world?
Our Verdict : Hard hitting rock numbers from the legends that are Queen with a witty script penned by comedian Ben Elton make sure that our stars find somebody to love!
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥

Kiss Me Kate
Romantic plot-line : Divorced couple are set to appear together in Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew”. Can they put aside their differences to order to make the show a success?
Our Verdict : Magnificent Cole Porter score includes “Another Op’ning, Another Show” and “I Hate Men” but just like Shakespeare’s original, everything works out in the end… if only we could say the same about West Side Story? Completely different matter!
Romance Rating : ♥♥♥♥
